Rainy Sunday

It's raining here in the D this morning. It's only 68 and it's humid. Amazing how a relative chill can feel so uncomfortable. I'd rather it be 85 with dry air.

Ah well. There are worse things than lazy Sundays like the one which awaits us. Some days you just gotta be happy to be here.

I seem to have a bit of writer's block too. Does it show?

History Repeats

Sometimes, in putting these little bits of wit and revelry to, well, not to paper anymore, yet putting it out into the ether just doesn't strike a chord with me, I come across an instance of the old writer's block. I have no idea what to say. When that happens I get cutesy. Sometimes I pull up a webpage and offer a This Day In History column. Sometimes I simply reprint an old missive or reword an old story. I'm sure you folks have noticed that.

Today I thought I would try something different. I though to meself, Self, why don't you look back to exactly one year ago, to November 24, 2020, and republish that. Do it just for kicks: hey y'all, look what I writed on this day last year. So I scrolled back through my records, and, well whaddaya know?

I didn't write anything new last November 24. My entries leapt from November 23 to November 25.

It's true. History repeats itself. Sort of, in this case.

Fool you once

I really got nothing today. I hate writer's block.

I'll take my usual daily constitutional in a few minutes. I'll end up at the Shop and make a cup of coffee on my Newark Keurig. I'll repair some cables and do a few other things I couldn't get to during the regular week.

Then I'll go home, clean up, watch a bit of TV, and read. My current book is The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club, a Lord Peter Wimsey novel by Dorothy Sayers. Wimsey is kind of Dorothy's Sherlock Holmes. I've read a couple others of that series. They're not bad, especially if you like murder mysteries.

Then sleep, waking up early to watch Korean baseball. That's it.

Perhaps I had something to write after all, even if it is rather mundane. And I've either fooled myself into writing a blog, or fooled you into reading it.

Writer's Block

The sermon at Mass this morning wasn't very interesting. But one should not complain about such things.

That doesn't count as a complaint does it?

Gonna be a hot one today. Yep; gonna be hot.

A real scorcher. 94 for a high, I think.

Yep. 94.

Been forty years since 1969. Forty years. Remember it like yesterday. Sort of.

Tigers lost 11-0 yesterday, but they're still in first.

Yep, yep, still in first.

Gotta get a cup of coffee. That might help.

No; no, apparently not.

I'm sorry, friends, I got nuthin' today. Just nuthin.

What? What do you mean by, how does that make today any different from any other day?

Just you wait. Tomorrow I'll be on my game and knock yer socks off.
